Nuffnang-Will They Pay on Time?

I have cash out twice with Nuffnang, once at the end of October and another time late last month. I have yet to receive payment from my first request.

According to Nuffnang, Nuffnang pays its Glitterati bloggers 30 days after their cash out request date every end of the month.

Upon that, the cheque will be sent to the bank for processing and mailed to your registered address. The processing and delivery from the bank’s side will take no longer than 3 weeks.

I guess I have to wait no longer than 3 weeks for my first cheque from Nuffnang to arrive. Hopefully this week :).

MmmMmmmm, what will I do with my first Nuffnang cheque?

The richest men in China

Forbes: The Year of the Rat has been a rough one for China's richest, with fortunes being dragged down amid a 60% plunge in mainland stocks and a 50% drop in Hong Kong shares in 2008.
The combined net worth of the 400 richest dropped to $173 billion from $288 billion. The top 40 lost $68 billion, or 57%. The minimum net worth slipped $20 million to $180 million. We found 24 billionaires, down from a record 66 in 2007. These losses would have been greater had it not been for the renminbi's 10% appreciation against the dollar.

Last year's wealthiest person, real estate heiress Yang Huiyan, is this year's biggest loser. Her net worth dropped $14 billion to $2.2 billion, still enough to rank third. There were plenty of other notable losers. The head of Nine Dragons Paper, Yan Cheung, who was China's richest person in March 2007 and one of just 10 self-made billionaire women in the world, is now worth $265 million.

Meanwhile, Larry Yung, a member of one of the country's most celebrated business families (his late father Rong Yiren was the nation's vice president), lost more than half a billion dollars in one day recently after his Citic Pacific conglomerate announced $2 billion in losses from unauthorized currency bets.

Cheung Chung Kiu, the boss of C.C. Land, a developer focused on Chongqing, has lost 98% of his fortune. Ranked No. 26 last year, he is off our list of the richest Chinese entirely. "You can't really believe it," says fellow property developer Zhang Xin of the upheaval. Zhang, who runs Soho China, is ranked 19th this year, worth $1.2 billion, one-third as much as she was in 2007.
Below are the top 10 richest people in China for the 2008 survey. Although their fortune is considered average compared to the rich guys in the US and the fact that net worth has taken a beating, they have "time" on their side. They are all so young.

1) Liu Yongxing (age 60) USD3b - East Hope Group

2) Wong Kwong Yu (39) USD2.7b - Gome Electrical Appliances
3) Yang Huiyan (27) USD2.22b - Country Gardens
4) Liu Yong ha (57) USD2.2b - New Hope Group
5) Zhou Chengjian and family (43) USD2b - Metersbonwe
6) Zhang Jindong (45) USD1.8b - Suning Appliances
7) Robin Li (40) USD1.7b - Baidu.com
8) Du Shuanghua (43) USD1.6b - Rizhao Steel
9) Ma Huateng (37) USD1.58b - Tencent
10) Zhou Furen and family (57) USD1.55b - Xiyang Group

Church holds gotong- royong to clean up Pudu

Proud of You Guys :)

INSTEAD of going away for the long weekend holiday, members of the First Assembly of God Church in Kuala Lumpur decided to hold a gotong-royong yesterday to clean up the Pudu area.

The event was in collaboration with the Bukit Bintang DAP office and the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL).

The enthusiastic participants gathered at the church area on Jalan Sayor as early as 8am for the big clean-up. The DBKL provided the equipment and trucks to collect the garbage.

About 150 church members, both old and young, were divided into groups to clean up various segments of Pudu, accompanied by some 50 DBKL workers.

Pick up: Members of the First Assembly of God Church taking part in the gotong-royong to clean up the Pudu area on yesterday

The areas involved were from Jalan Pasar to Changkat Thamby Dollah.

According to a church leader, the joint effort was part of the Pudu renewal project to make the area a better place for quality living and to enhance its image.

“Pudu is located in the heart of the city and plays an important role in the overall image of Kuala Lumpur as the capital city,” he said.

“At the same time, the project also trains our young people to be conscious and caring of their community,” he said.

Bukit Bintang MP Fong Kui Lun, who was also present, said that a memorandum signed by 300 people urging the local authorities to retain the name of the place would be submitted to the Kuala Lumpur mayor.

He said that the Pudu people felt uncomfortable and worried following the DBKL decision to rename Jalan Alor to Jalan Kejora, although the move had since been vetoed by the Federal Territories Ministry.

Fong, together with Cheras MP Tan Kok Wai, Seputeh MP Teresa Kok and Segambut MP Lim Lip Eng will submit the memo at the DBKL office today.

“Jalan Alor is a popular name known to many tourists and locals. It’s like a brand name in the eyes of these people and that is why the locals want the name unchanged,” Fong said.

Cambodian couple saw house in half in divorce

This must be one of the weirdest story I ever heard. A couple, split everything, including their house....serious.
PHNOM PENH, Cambodia - A couple in rural Cambodia has terminated their 18-year marriage with a divorce settlement that entailed sawing in two the wooden house they once shared, villagers said Friday. The husband, 42-year-old Moeun Sarim, has taken away with him all the bits and pieces of his half a house, said his 35-year-old wife, Vat Navy.

"Very strange, but this is what my husband wanted," she said by phone from a village about 62 miles east of Cambodia's capital, Phnom Penh. She said they ended their marriage last month.

"He brought his relatives and used saws to cut the house in half," she said, adding that she now owns the other half that is still standing. The house is made from wood with a tile roof and propped up on wooden pillars, a typical style for a Cambodian country home.

She said her estranged husband and his relatives, after ripping apart half of the house, carried all the debris to his parents' house nearby.

She said the divorce was prompted by her husband's jealousy about her alleged relationship with a policeman in the village. She denied having an extramarital affair.

"He wanted a divorce, and I said, `Let's divorce,'" she said.

The husband could not be reached for comment.

Bou Bout, a village chief, said local officials and police were present as witnesses the day the couple split their 20-by-24 1/2 foot house into half.

"Local officials tried three times to get them to mend their differences, but the husband would not budge," Bou Bout said by phone.

NYC National Debt Clock runs out of digits

NEW YORK - In a sign of the times, the National Debt Clock in New York City has run out of digits to record the growing figure.

As a short-term fix, the digital dollar sign on the billboard-style clock near Times Square has been switched to a figure — the "1" in $10 trillion. It's marking the federal government's current debt at about $10.2 trillion.

The Durst Organization says it plans to update the sign next year by adding two digits. That will make it capable of tracking debt up to a quadrillion dollars.

The late Manhattan real estate developer Seymour Durst put the sign up in 1989 to call attention to what was then a $2.7 trillion debt.

Some Advertising Literally Busts Through the Clutter

By looking at the photo below, can you tell what are they advertising? Boob job? Or something else? Please read on......

Hi there. You see, up there? Those are two new ads for a certain good or service that consumers will soon be staring at. You might be wondering what the ads are for. This is a difficult thing to surmise because, thanks to our cropping, you cannot see the name of the brand or company these ads hope to promote.

Also: It's hard to tell because the only thing you really see here is a pair of busty women nearly popping out of their shirts. So, take a guess what the ads are for.

Hint: It is not for breast enlargement surgery.

Hint 2: It's is not for Levi's, 'cause you know how those guys love to advertise their product by barely showing it.

And now you see: The (Spanish language) ads are for Pantene, a shampoo targeted almost exclusive (entirely exclusively?) toward women. You know women, right? That demographic who supposedly values positive body images?

Pantene would be hard pressed to believe that, however, since the only thing you're not focusing on in either of the spots is the women's hair. Instead, you're looking to see whether you can spot any nipple popping through. (You can; the purple girl's right one is visible.)

Or maybe they're just trying to get women to believe that "Pantene con pro vitaminas," as it reads in the lower right corner, will leave you with this rack.

It is Illegal To Fart On Policeman

I am not sure if it is illegal to fart on policeman here in Malaysia. But in US, you can get yourself in trouble. Farting on policeman is considered an assault. The story below.

Drunk man Jose Cruz charged for assault, farts on policeman

A DRUNK man who was being charged for DUI has landed himself an extra assault charge after he cheekily passed gas on the police officer.

According to a criminal complaint, Jose Cruz intentionally passed gas on an officer who was processing him for arrest.

Paperwork from the arrest shows Cruz was originally pulled over for driving without headlights. He failed a field sobriety test and was brought back to the police station, where he was given a breathalyzer test and was fingerprinted.

This is Jose Cruz ... the allegedly drunk man charged with farting on a US policeman.

That's when police say Cruz "lifted his leg and passed gas loudly on (Patrolman) Parsons... then fanned the air with his hand in front of his rear."

Between this action and several struggles with handcuffs, Cruz ended up with a battery on a police officer charge, two counts of obstruction, plus a DUI and a driving without headlights charge. His bond was $5,000

Govt set to cut petrol price by 10 cents, says report

From Malaysiakini :

Sep 24, 08 2:08pm
According to a news report quoting sources, the government is set to reduce petrol prices by 10 cents to RM2.45 per litre.

But no mention of date or time.

Does any one know when? Latest : It is Thursday, 25.09.2008

UPDATE : The Star :Fuel prices down by 10sen

PUTRAJAYA: Petrol and diesel prices will be reduced by 10 sen effective Thursday, Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Shahrir Abdul Samad said.

The new price of petrol will now be RM2.45 per litre while the price of diesel will be RM2.40.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi had said on Tuesday that the Cabinet would discuss the price of fuel when it met today

‘’It is better we discuss first on matters related to fuel and subsidies. I don’t want to give any impression on the matter (whether there will be lower pump prices).

‘’If necessary, we will make an announcement,’’ he told reporters after chairing the second Economic Council meeting on Tuesday.

Abdullah was commenting on speculation that the Government might lower fuel prices a few days before Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

The previous reduction in fuel prices was on Aug 23, when the price of petrol was reduced by 15 sen per litre from RM2.70 while the price of diesel was cut by 8sen to RM2.50 a litre.

On June 4, the Government had announced a 78-sen increase in the price of petrol to RM2.70 a litre and a RM1 increase in diesel to RM2.58 a litre, stating that it could no longer continue to subsidise fuel.

On Aug 1, Abdullah said the petrol price would be reviewed monthly from Sept 1 based on the average global market price and the subsidy will be fixed at 30 sen a litre.

He also gave an assurance that the petrol price would not exceed RM2.70 a litre for this year, even if the global market price went up.

Received A Cheque From Google US$123

I wrote about two weeks ago that Google AdSense (Read here) has send a cheque to me. Yesterday it arrived in my letter box.

Ha ha ha, I am going to bank in today, but not sure how long it is going to take before I can cash out. With current exchange rate, I can get roughly RM420.00, that is before deducting bank charges, which I think is around RM30. Not bad for a partime pro blogger, huh?

Looking forward to bringing my wife for a good dinner.

Next time I will opt for Western Union for faster and more convenient withdrawing. :)

He Pingping is the smallest man in the world at 2ft 5.37 inches tall. He hails from Mongolia, where he runs a restaurant and has a girlfriend who is average height.

Pingping is a Chinese man who has been officially named by the Guinness World Records as the world's shortest, non-disabled, man.

The 20-year-old measures 73 cm (2 ft 5 in)tall, and is the third child of a family in Huade county, in the city of Wulanchabu in northern China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.
